Athens to Loutraki train cage match

We left Athens today by train. Well, by foot, mostly pushing our bicycles and trailers through the center of Athens, trying desperately to keep the unwieldy beasts upright while dodging anarchic cars doing circus tricks through traffic. Then we got ourselves on a train with help from several very nice people and giving directions to our next train. Unfortunately the next train was more of the commuter type and even on a Saturday we found ourselves in the way of every passenger embarking or disembarking. We tested exactly how patient the people of Greece were and the answer is amazingly so. Our day was annoying and somewhat nightmarish in a commuting sort of way, but it of course could be worse. The weather is really cooperative and nice and the water in the Mediterranean is unnaturally blue and I suspect the use of dye. We are going to spend a couple of day here in Loutraki and get our share of souvlaki before heading out on our official cycling trip.

  1. Hooray! Your adventure begins! Stuff some extra spanikopita down your shorts for later . You'll want it. And never pass up a chance for water! Love to you both!
